The ships of the AJD

Rara Avis:

Rara Avis (the Rare Bird) was built in 1957. The design of this 125 ft. long 3-mast long lifting-keel yacht with a steel hull was inspired by the barges on the Thames river.

Georges Lillaz, CEO of the department store "Bazar de l'Hotel de Ville" in Paris and private owner of the yacht, gave her to the association in 1974.

Since then, she is the second cruising boat of the association and the two boats usually sail together.

She can accommodate 35 trainees and 5 crew members, allowing us to double the hosting capacity of the Bel Espoir II.
